Sarah Falk, Coordinator
After struggling with nausea and fatigue for a couple of weeks, the unexpected results came in:
positive pregnancy test! As the oldest of six children, Sarah thought she had a pretty good idea of what to expect…until Samuel arrived with a sensitive tummy that made him scream for hours at a time. She made it through those early months of colic, but not without the help and support of other mothers (and Brian!). A supportive community of moms is just one reason why Sarah is so excited about MOPS! Before Sarah was promoted to “mommy,” she taught bilingual third grade in FWISD. She and her husband, Brian, are originally from Southern California but thoroughly enjoy living in The Lone Star state with their young son, Samuel.
Ashley Kinard, MOPPETS
When Ashley was a teenager growing up in a blended family, she seized every opportunity she could to spend time investing in the lives of young children. But even then, she felt as though something was missing from her life. After college, a whirlwind courtship, and a year of marriage to her husband David, she eventually found what was missing when she brought home her first-born son, Austin. She thoroughly enjoys being a mother to her young preschoolers (Austin now has a brother named Seth). Ashley is passionate about teaching her own children – and other children – about God and His love for them.
Christina Lutz, Publicity
As a single woman, Christina prayed fervently for the family she longed for while cheering on many friends who were finding joy and fulfillment in marriage and motherhood. At the age of 40, God brought a wonderful man named Tom into her life and she relocated from South Carolina to Fort Worth to marry him. She was convinced that the joy of motherhood had passed her by due to her age until October of last year when she found out she was pregnant, just two months after getting married! In May 2012, Christina gave birth to Sophia, and the longed-for dream of motherhood became a reality. As a new mom, Christina is excited about MOPS and the loving encouragement she needs as she learns how to be a mommy. Christina is excited to help other women find their identity in Christ and looks forward to this new season in MOPS.
Jennifer Covington, Hospitality
Before I became a mom, I didn't think I could do it. Seriously, I was known for saying things like "I don't do cute" and "I don't really know what to do with kids." Praise the Lord that my two sweet babies have set me straight! My confidence as a mom is growing right along my babes and I am loving this journey. I am a Christ-follower, wife, daughter, mother, crafter, reader, lover of grammar, food, fun, travel and culture. My husband of seven years works full-time, allowing me to stay home with Emory, 2 years, and Everett, 6 months. I'm still not quite sure what I want to be when I grow up, but I'm having fun figuring it out!
Amy Collier, Discussion Group Leader
I love being a wife and mom, and I love my three sweet babies. After Keith and I were married a couple of years, we decided to try to start a family. We even joked that we would race a few of our friends who also wanted children - after all, how hard could it be to get pregnant?! After a year of trying, we went to the fertility doctor and I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). After a few months of fertility medication, we became pregnant with our first son. We were also blessed with our second son after two months of fertility medicine, then, after eighteen months of fertility medication, and plans of more invasive treatments, I became pregnant with our daughter, Allison. Outside of my life as mom, I have a teaching degree I use regularly at home, teaching preschoolers at our church and at a mother’s day out program. I also enjoy laundry, dusting…ha, ha, ha…I mean crafting, reading, and spending time with friends! My husband, Keith, is working on a Ph.D. at Southwestern seminary, my son Will is in third grade, Blake is starting kindergarten, and our baby, Allison is two years old.
Carrie Auldridge, Creative Activities
Being a mom is Carrie’s favorite job! Her favorite mom moments were those first few minutes after her children were born: hearing “It’s a boy!” with her son Garrett and “It’s a girl!” with her daughter Tara, followed by that awesome love-at-first-sight meeting with each of them. Now motherhood is crazy, busy, and unpredictable, but also very rewarding and fun! There are moments when she wants to pull her hair out (red Chapstick in the carpet), but within five minutes she experiences a moment of overwhelming, unexplainable love and she thanks God for her precious children. William Shakespeare quipped that “The course of true love never did run smooth,” but neither does motherhood! In her spare time, Carrie enjoys spending time with J.T., her husband of nine years, cooking, baking, scrapbooking, sewing, reading and organizing.
Angie Yeats, MOPS Mentor Mom
My story begins with an incredible desire to be a mom. I've loved serving and teaching children my entire life, and I absolutely couldn't wait to be a mother! The Lord made my story a little different in the way I became that mom, but nevertheless: I am a mom, and I love it! In 2002, the Lord showed us how he desired our family to be: He blessed John Mark (my husband of almost thirteen years) and me with a family through the adoption of four beautiful children. Briley, our oldest, is nine years old; our son Sean is nine as well. Our daughter Cadie is seven, and last but not least, our youngest son, Jackson, is six. It's a great adoption story - feel free to ask me about it sometime! I have served in MOPS leadership for seven years, though this will be my first time as a Mentor Mom. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and the ministry it has served in my life! Being a part of MOPS has given me a great opportunity to serve the Lord and also meet and get to know all of you. If this is your first time at MOPS, welcome! I hope this becomes a great blessing and ministry for you to be a part of. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you throughout the year!
